2 suspects arrested in the death of Luoyang TV journalist
Two suspects have been captured for killing and robbing a TV reporter in Luoyang City, Henan Province on Sunday, local police said today.
Li Xiang, a 30-year-old reporter with Luoyang Television, was found dead with over a dozen knife wounds in the early hours of September 18 on his way home from the TV station. He died from excessive bleeding and his laptop bag was missing, police said.
One suspect, Zhang Xiaobo, was just released from jail after serving a sentence for a robbery crime. Another suspect is a local farmer. They robbed 800 yuan from Li's bag, a source in the police bureau said.
Li had made investigative reporting on the illegal production of swill oil in the city before he was killed. But this has not been supported by evidences obtained so far.
Luoyang police said they are going to hold a press conference soon to reveal details of the case to the public.
