2 women wanted for questioning over dead baby found in HK mall bathroom

Police have released an image of two women they would like to speak with in connection to the death of a newborn baby boy whose body was found in a shopping mall bathroom last month, South China Morning Post reported today.

The women were captured by surveillance cameras in the vicinity of the mall on the day the grisly discovery was made, according to the report.

Police believe the two women are aged between 25 and 40.

“At this stage, we are not treating them as suspects,” a police spokeswoman said. “They may provide information to us so we want to interview them.”

Police are appealing for the two women and anyone with information on the newborn’s death to call officers.

The baby’s body – wrapped in plastic, clothes and a recycling bag and with its umbilical cord still attached – was found by a cleaner inside the ground-floor ladies’ washroom at the Paradise Mall in Heng Fa Chuen at about 7am on May 25.

He had been dead for an estimated 12 to 24 hours before being discovered, according to police.

The discovery of the baby’s body is the latest in a string of similar incidents this year.
