2 workers survive 27-story fall, cushioned by safety nets
TWO workers miraculously survived a 27-story fall from a building still under construction in Nanjing, eastern Jiangsu Province after breaking through 12 safety nets.
The two workers, wearing no safety belts, were standing on a platform made of bamboo strips when the platform suddenly collapsed yesterday, the Yangtze Evening News reported.
After crashing through 12 safety nets, they fell on the ground, screaming for help.
They were found in stable condition, suffering only fractures and bruises after they were rushed to a hospital.
The manager in charge of the construction site said the accident exposed safety loopholes. The platform they stood on clearly didn't meet quality standards and they didn't follow rules to wear a safety belt.
