20 die in highway tunnel blast
TWENTY people were killed in an explosion inside an under-construction expressway tunnel in central China's Hunan Province yesterday, local authorities said.
A total of 24 people were working at the tunnel when the blast occurred, said officials.
Four were pulled out, including one in a critical condition, the Hunan provincial transport department said in a statement.
The blast happened at about 8:30am in Yanling County, Zhuzhou City, on an expressway linking the counties of Yanling and Rucheng, when a vehicle carrying explosives was unloading in the tunnel.
An investigation is under way.
