200 RV campsites to be built in NW China
About 200 RV campsites will be built within three years in northwest China's Gansu Province, according to local authorities.
Camping headquarters will be set up in 12 cities and two autonomous prefectures in Gansu, mainly on land near highways and airports so that tourists can rent motorhomes right after they fly in.
"The 138,000 kilometers of road across Gansu connects the province's 77 national-level scenic areas,"said Huang Qiang, vice governor of the province, "it is the perfect network for self-driving vacations."
The Silk Road once ran through Gansu province and the ancient trade route is dotted with world cultural heritage sites such as Mogao Grottos and part of the Great Wall.
Nature lovers can enjoy desert, forest and glaciers in Gansu.
Services like motorhome rental, navigation system and first aid will be provided in all headquarters, bases and posts, according to Huang.
