2,000-Plus Suspects Seized In Crackdown

CHONGQING police have seized more than 2,000 suspects in a crackdown on the city's gangs and violence.
Police raids have smashed 14 major gangs in the mountainous city and apprehended 24 suspected gang leaders as well as nearly 200 alleged key members.
Officers also seized ammunition, weapons and drugs and cleared up more than 1,700 criminal cases.
Detainees are under investigation and may face about 50 charges including murder, kidnap, rape, robbery and producing and selling narcotics.
