2015 Bortala Nadam Grassland Festival kicks off
ON September 16, the Bogedaer Racetrack in Wenquan county, Bortala Mongolia Prefecture, Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, enjoys an air of joy, when the people of different ethnic groups gather together here from all directions, for celebrating the 60th anniversary of Xinjiang and the opening ceremony of 2015 Bortala Nadam Grassland Festival.
In the refreshing autumn weather in September, the events including horse racing, camal racing, roaster fighting, goat fighting and national wrestling, for the recreational purpose, attract numerous visitors of different nationalities. Upon seeing the horses and camels moving off, a burst of applause and cheers follow in the crowd, a tremendous spectacle feasting our eyes.
According to the host, this festival is held in the county of Wenquan from September 16 till 17, mainly including opening ceremony, sports events, cultural tour and closing ceremony. It features public participation dominated by the grass-roots masses, aiming to make it a festvial for all.
On the scene of the opening ceremony, special foods contest, tourism items exhibition and exhibition of garments and decorations of ethnic minorities are also held.
