23 detained in Guangzhou over group fight

POLICE in Guangzhou, capital of southern Guangdong Province, have detained 23 people who were involved in a group fight over the property management of a local department store.
The fight near the Xinzhongguo Department Store occurred on the afternoon of April 15. Police said these men were employees from two property management companies who each claimed their right of business in the department store. A witness said these men attacked each other with wooden sticks, the local Yangcheng Evening News reported.
The police arrived immediately and blockaded the area. Sixteen men were detained at the spot and seven others were captured later, including the main instigator.
Several men were injured in the fight and were sent to the hospital but none were in critical condition. The department store was shut down after the incident, the report said.
