28 detained after leak of test paper

TWENTY-EIGHT people including government workers have been detained for their part in the leak of this year's government recruitment test in southwest China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

Xiao Hua, Party secretary of Guangxi Personnel and Social Security Bureau, has resigned over the scandal, the regional government said today. Xiao was replaced by Guangxi's vice Party secretary Jiang Kechang.

The government also scrapped the results of the affected tests and ruled that candidates must take another test on April 25, Xinhua news agency reported.

The Guangxi government had launched an investigation after 707 candidates gained suspiciously high scores in the test on January 16.

Among the detained is Huang Wenliang, worker with Guangxi Personnel Test Center, the Xinhua report said.

He allegedly took in a wireless modem into the office while compiling the test papers and used a notepad to send the answers to four other people for profit, police found.

Huang was accused of disclosing state secrets.
