2nd driver arrested in run-over toddler saga
ANOTHER suspect who allegedly ran over a two-year-old girl in south China's Foshan City with his van was arrested, Nanhai District People's Procuratorate said today.
Hu Jun, 24, was arrested and charged with manslaughter, Nanfang Daily reported today.
Wang Yue was crushed by two vans in the hit-and-run accident and left unattended in the street on October 13. She died last Friday morning after her vital organs had shut down.
The driver of the other van is also under police investigation.
Surveillance video of the incident showed 18 people passed her by indifferently. Thanks to the 19th passer-by, a female garbage collector who came to her aid about seven minutes after the first hit, the girl didn't die immediately.
The incident has triggered heated debate about whether Chinese people have lost their moral compass amid swift economic development in the past decades.
