3 dead, 6 missing after boat collision in East China Sea

Three people were confirmed dead and another six remain missing after two cargo boats collided and sank in the East China Sea early Thursday, the local salvage authority said.

The Fujian Provincial Maritime Search and Rescue Center received a report of an accident at 3:05 am, which said that 13 people were in the waters off Nanri Island due to the collision.

So far four people have been rescued. Rescue operations are under way.

Both boats were Chinese vessels.
