3 dead as family quarrel turns violent

A family quarrel escalated into a violent attack when a man killed his wife, one-year-old son and himself on Tuesday in Wuxi City, Jiangsu Province, local media reported today.
The couple started quarrelling around noon and soon began to fight each other. Both were highly agitated and locked the door to fill their apartment with coal gas, neighbors said.
Around 2:30pm, the wife was seen crying for help at the window. "He wanted to kill the son because his wife was holding the baby," a witness said.
Another witness said the woman was slashed and bleeding, but the husband drew the curtain to block it from public view.
Police rushed to their home and smelled gas from a broken window. They saw the floor was covered with blood. The man and his son were lying in the living room and the woman was on the floor in another room.
The boy's head was dented, indicating he was thrown to death. The man already cut his own throat and was pronounced dead later in the hospital, the local TV news reported.
Residents said the couple, in their 30s, also has a daughter who is a grade-one student.
