3 left by Shenzhen subway train in tunnel

Three people dropped into a Shenzhen subway tunnel and were left behind after someone pulled an emergency device to open a Metro train’s door on Sunday, Chinanews.com reported today.

The incident occurred around 6pm as passengers were fighting in a carriage of Metro Line 1. Many passengers rushed to the last carriage and someone deployed an emergency device to make the train stop, according to surveillance video.

The train stopped suddenly and then the door opened as the train was in a tunnel, said the report.

A female passenger surnamed Zhang, who was clinging to the door, was edged out by the crowd. Her husband and another passenger jumped out to rescue her, but the train's door closed and the train started moving again.

The three people clung to fire hydrants in the tunnel, yelled for help and were rescued finally, the report said.
