3 more cases of H7N9 reported in 2 provinces
Three more people were confirmed to be infected with H7N9 bird flu in two Chinese provinces, including one who died, health authorities said yesterday.
The infection of a woman, 81, from Shenzhen in south China’s Guangdong Province, who died on Friday, was confirmed on Saturday, said the provincial health and family planning commission.
An 11-year-old boy from Huaiji County, also in Guangdong, was confirmed with the virus on Saturday. He is said to be in a stable condition.
A man, 66, from Susong County, in eastern Anhui Province, suffering a respiratory infection was confirmed with bird flu on Saturday. He is in a critical condition.
His wife was engaged in live poultry trading.
Live poultry markets in Susong County and the urban area of Anqing City, which governs Susong, were suspended yesterday.
China has reported more than 120 human H7N9 cases this year, including some 26 deaths, with Zhejiang and Guangdong provinces worst affected.
