3 super bug cases reported in China
China reported three cases of drug-resistant super bug today involving two newborns in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region and an old patient in Fujian Province.
The Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention and the Academy of Military Medical Sciences found their test samples positive for the new super bug known as NDM-1.
The two newborns, both underweight, suffered from diarrhea and respiratory infection two or three days after birth but have now recovered.
The older patient, however, has died of lung cancer. But how much his death was related to the super bug was still unknown.
