3 teachers die in Tibet road accident
THREE teachers from Shanghai died in a road accident in Nagqu Prefecture of Tibet, the education bureau of Shanghai’s Jinshan District said in a statement yesterday.
The men were part of a team of 11 teachers on a self-organized tour of Tibet and Yunnan Province. They were travelling in three cars.
Two teachers were from a secondary vocational school and one of them taught in a primary school in the district.
A district official told Shanghai Daily that it was still not clear how the accident happened, except saying the Tibetan authorities were investigating. The official said the other two cars had reached Yunnan when they heard about the accident. One of the injured underwent emergency treatment in the hospital.
Nine relatives of the victims, as well as five staffers from the district education bureau and schools, left for Nagqu yesterday.
