34 injured as gas container explodes

AT least 34 workers were injured in an explosion and fire at a construction site in Beijing on Tuesday night, the Beijing Times reported yesterday.
More than 50 workers were in the dormitory next to a kitchen with a liquid gas container when the accident happened around 9pm. Most of the workers suffered from burns.
The workers were in bed at the time and fled the fire, some sustaining cuts from broken windows.
The explosion was caused by a gas leak from the container, according to a workers' spokesman. The injured workers, from Henan and Shaanxi provinces, are in stable condition in hospital.
Police are investigating the incident.
