38 more swine flu cases on mainland
Chinese mainland yesterday reported 38 more swine flu cases, raising the total number of H1N1 infections to 1,040.
The new cases included 13 in Shanghai and nine in Beijing, the Ministry of Health said on its Website last night.
A primary school in Beijing confirmed seven more H1N1 flu cases on Saturday, including six students and one teacher, the municipal health bureau said.
As of 10pm on Saturday, 28 students and one teacher at the Nanhu Zhongyuan Primary School in Chaoyang District were in stable condition, according to the bureau.
The school reported seven cases on Wednesday, 10 on Thursday and five on Friday.
The mass infection was caused by a housekeeping servant, said Fang Laiying, director of the municipal health bureau, late on Thursday.
The flu outbreak forced the school to start summer holidays a week ahead of schedule.
The Chinese capital reported 192 H1N1 flu cases as of 10pm on Saturday; 124 have recovered and have been discharged from hospitals.
Meanwhile, Hong Kong reported 26 newly confirmed cases of H1N1 influenza yesterday, a Hong Kong Department of Health spokesman said, bringing the city's total to 953.
Macau also reported seven more confirmed cases of H1N1 influenza on Saturday, bringing its total to 54.
