39 die in fires

A total of 39 people have been killed in fires during the week-long Spring Festival holiday, the Ministry of Public Security said on Saturday.
During the vacation, 13,796 fires broke out around the country, a year-on-year decline of 11.8 percent. The fires claimed the lives of 39 people, a decrease of 26.4 percent, according to the ministry.
The ministry said police nationwide found over 896,000 fire hazards during strengthened inspections.
