4 Chinese fishermen missing off Peruvian coast
A Chinese fishing boat capsized yesterday evening in waters off the Callao port in western Peru, with four crew members still missing, the Chinese embassy in Peru said.
All the 19 other crew members had been rescued, with one of them injured, said the embassy's consular section.
The "Fuyuan 3" vessel, which belongs to the Yantai marine fishery company of east China's Shandong Province, capsized just 6 km from the Callao port after a failed balance adjustment before entering the port, said the embassy.
The injured fisherman had been sent to a local hospital for treatment, while the 18 others had been accommodated on other fishing boats of the company.
Also yesterday, Peruvian navy Captain Jose Calvo told local media that the Peruvian authorities had launched a search and rescue operation for the four missing Chinese.
