4 dead, 57 trapped in coal mine rock blast
Four workers have died and 57 others are still trapped underground after a rock blast shook Qianqiu Coal Mine yesterday evening in central China's Henan Province.
When the burst happened at 7:45pm, 75 miners were working in the coal mine in Yima City. Fourteen miners have been evacuated to safety, Xinhua news agency reported today.
Mine access roads have collapsed in the violent jolt and rescuers are working to pump fresh air to the trapped workers.
Luo Lin, director of the State Administration of Work Safety, has arrived at the mine to supervise the rescue mission.
Qianqiu Coal Mine belongs to Yima Coal Industry (Group) Co Ltd.
