4 die, 100 injured in Guizhou blast
THE death toll has climbed to four and at least 100 were injured in an explosion near a gas station in southwest China's Guizhou Province today.
The blast happened at midday in Machangping Township of Fuquan City, about 100 kilometers from the provincial capital Guiyang.
A tank truck carrying sulfuric acid, which parked near a warehouse where explosives were stored, reportedly triggered the blast. The powerful explosion rocked the gas station and nearby buildings, the Guizhou branch of Sinopec, Asia's largest oil refinery said.
The exact cause of the accident is still under investigation.
