4 killed in explosion of dangerous cargo in Guangzhou
Four people have been killed and 36 others injured, including one critically, in an explosion that took place around noon today in south China's Guangzhou City.
Fire authorities believe the explosion happened when a vehicle was unloading a cargo of dangerous chemicals, based on an initial investigation at the scene.
Human body parts were found among the debris. Authorities believed they belonged to four victims, which likely included the vehicle driver and cargo owner. The two had remained unaccounted for since the blast and were feared to have been killed on the scene.
The blast occurred near a warehouse in the Baiyun district.
Black fumes could be seen hundreds of meters away from the explosion site, according to witnesses. Previous local reports said some children from a nearby kindergarten were injured and rushed to hospitals.
