4 students drowned in river as they celebrate end of exam
FOUR high school students in north China's Hebei Province were drowned yesterday when they were boating on a river after finishing the three-day National College Entrance Exam, Beijing Evening News reported today.
Seven students from Hebei Dachang Experimental High School, five boys and two girls, first had a picnic on the shore of the Chaobai River that borders on Beijing to celebrate the end of the grueling exam, police said.
Afterwards, the five boys went boating and they all fell into the river when the boat suddenly capsized around 6pm. Local villagers rushed to their rescue but only saved one of them.
Local police arrived later after receiving the report and the bodies of the other four boys were found by about 11:20pm last night.
