4 trapped miners rescued

FOUR of 26 miners trapped for 100 hours in a flooded mine in northeast China's Heilongjiang Province were rescued yesterday.

The flooding occurred on Tuesday, when 45 miners were working in a pit at Hengtai Coal Mining Co in Boli County, Qitaihe City. Nineteen miners escaped.

Meanwhile, a gas explosion at an illegal coal mine killed two miners and injured three others in Sichuan Province, local officials said yesterday.

Seven miners were in the pit when the accident happened late Friday, the officials said.
