40 workers missing after landslide
Nearly 40 people were still missing by this noon after a heavy downpour triggered a landslide that buried shelters for workers who were building a hydropower station in Ningnan County, Sichuan Province.
The landslide occurred at 6:14am this morning after the region recorded 236.8 millimeters of rainfall which lasted from 8pm yesterday to 7:20am today.
The landslide destroyed the dormitory houses where 38 to 41 workers lived. They were out of contact and Sichuan authorities have launched a rescue operation to find them, according to news on Sichuan Daily website.
