'46 mistresses' senior official sacked for graft
A DEPUTY governor of eastern Shandong Province at the center of lurid online allegations has been sacked as part of a corruption investigation.
Huang Sheng, 57, who disappeared from public view 10 days ago, was sacked by central government for "serious disciplinary violations," the Xinhua news agency reported yesterday.
Online posts claimed Huang took bribes of US$9 billion, kept 46 mistresses and owned 46 properties.
However, central government did not confirm these allegations, saying investigations were ongoing.
Huang has undergone "double designation" - a special investigative procedure for Party officials, under which they are required to confess or explain wrongdoings at a designated time and place.
News of Huang's dismissal met approval from some web users. "He deserves to be put in jail," claimed one netizen.
Huang, a native of Weihai City in Shandong joined the Communist Party in 1975 and started his political career as a military cartographer.
He was promoted to government official in 1984, assigned as the mayor of Dezhou City in 1996 and elected as deputy governor in 2007, reported Xinhua.
