47 smokes in 2 hours puts man in hospital
A YOUNG man in eastern China had to be hospitalized after he smoked 47 cigarettes within two hours.
The unnamed man in Rizhao City of Shandong Province was out of danger after a two-hour treatment, Qingdaonews.com reported yesterday.
He was tied to his bed, because the hospital feared he might hurt himself because of delusions.
A doctor said the young man was poisoned by nicotine in the cigarettes.
The 23-year-old man had just been fired from an apparel-making company because he smoked against the rules.
His father begged him to quit smoking. When the son refused, he bought a package of 200 cigarettes and asked him to finish them all as a solution to tobacco addiction.
Yet the young man started to smoke and didn't stop until he passed out, with 47 butts on the ground, the report said.
