4.8-magnitude quake jolts Guangdong

An earthquake measuring 4.8 on the Richter scale hit Dongyuan County in south China's Guangdong Province at 2:34am this morning.
The epicenter, with a depth of 13 kilometers, was at 24.0 degrees north latitude and 114.5 degrees east longitude, China Earthquake Networks Center said.
People in Xichang, a town close to the epicenter, experienced severe quake, but so far no casualties or damages has been reported, according to Guangdong Earthquake Administration.
The quake was felt in Guangzhou, the provincial capital which is around 160 km away from the epicenter, Dongguan, Shenzhen, Meizhou, Heyuan cities and Hong Kong.
Dozens of Hong Kong residents said they felt the weak shaking lasting several seconds, Hong Kong Observatory said today.
