5 killed in Jiangsu elevator accident

Five people died after an elevator plunged to the ground at a construction site in east China's Jiangsu Province today, local authorities said.

The accident happened around 7am in Hengshanqiao Township, Wujin District of Changzhou City.

The five people in the elevator were injured and sent to a local hospital but died from serious injuries, the township government said.

The cause of the accident is being investigated.
