5 middle school students go to jail over gang raping

A COURT in southwestern Guizhou Province has sentenced five middle school male students to jail terms from 10 to three years over gang raping a female schoolmate.
The five grade-nine students in Luobeihe Middle School in Guiding County were convicted of gang raping the grade-seven girl at the Guiding County People's Court Last Monday.
A sixth boy was also charged with rape. The court acquitted him from criminal penalty because he voluntarily gave up during the gang raping.
Two offenders, identified by their surname as Zhou and Wei, dragged the victim surnamed Yang out of the school canteen to a hill behind the school building on 9pm on September 16, attempting to rape her.
Yang resisted fiercely, forcing Zhou and Wei to stop. But the two took her to their dormitory room and called the other convicted at 10:30pm. The five raped Yang in the room. Another boy attempted to sexually assault Yang but stopped after Yang warned she would tell their teacher, reported today's Guizhou City News.
