FIVE mine managers received court sentences from 13 years in prison to death penalty with a two-year reprieve on Tuesday for a coal mine blast in central China's Henan Province which killed 76 workers and injured 15.

Li Xinjun, the owner of Xinhua No.4 Coal Mine in Xinhua District of Pingdingshan City, was sentenced to death with a two-year reprieve for endangering public security and forging seals of public institutions, said the Pingdingshan Intermediate People's Court.

The court also charged the four managers of endangering public security. Han Erjun, a technology supervisor, was sentenced to death with a two-year reprieve. Hou Min, a safety supervisor, received life imprisonment. Deng Shujun, a production manager, was sentenced to 15 years in jail, while Yuan Yingzhou, assistant production manager, was sentenced to 13 years in prison.
