5 trapped in China coal mine gas outburst

Five miners were trapped after a coal and gas outburst at a colliery in southwest China's Guizhou Province this morning, local authorities said.

The accident happened at 2 am, when 50 miners were working underground at Huangshuiba coal mine in Yumo township of Jinsha county. Forty-five of them were lifted out safely, with two of them seriously injured, according to local authorities.

Rescue work and investigations are underway.
