6 die in 3-vehicle smash

SIX people were killed and five injured yesterday in a three- vehicle collision in northeast China’s Heilongjiang Province, traffic police said. The accident happened around 4am when a large truck rear-ended a medium-sized bus, sending it careering into a heavy truck in Hulan District of provincial capital Harbin. The accident took place on the road connecting Harbin and the border township of Zhaoxing, said a police officer in Harbin. Five passengers on the bus were dead at the scene and the bus driver died later at hospital. Five other passengers were injured, said the police officer. Speeding and overloading were to blame for the accident, said police. Officers found 13 people were onboard the 11-seat bus when the accident occurred. Further investigations are under way.
