600-plus Chinese students face deportation as UK school loses visa right
MORE than 600 Chinese among 2,600-plus foreign students are facing deportation from Britain after their London Metropolitan University was stripped of its right to sign off visas for all non-European Union students, reported Chinanews.com today.
The students were told to find another licensed institution to sponsor their visas within 60 days or they could be asked leave Britain, the website said.
The UK Border Agency officially announced on Wednesday that the university had its "highly trusted statues" revoked because border officials have found significant problems with the qualification of many of its non-EU foreign students.
Officials with the Chinese Embassy in Britain told the website that they would offer help to the Chinese students affected by the UK government decision.
