6.5-magnitude quake jolts sea off eastern Taiwan coast
A 6.5-magnitude earthquake hit sea off Taiwan's eastern coast at 5am Beijing Time today, said the island's meteorological authorities.
The epicenter was monitored at 24.47 degrees north latitude and 122.39 degrees east longitude, or 70.2km southeast of the headquarters of Yilan (or Ilan) county authorities, with a depth of 61.9 kilometers.
Xinhua reporters felt house trembling inside a Taipei building.
There has been no immediate reports of any casualty or property loss.
