6.6-magnitude quake hits China's Yunnan
A 6.6-magnitude earthquake jolted Jinggu County in southwest China's Yunnan Province at 21:49 yesterday, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC).
The epicenter was monitored at 23.4 degrees north latitude and 100.5 degrees east longitude, and the focus of the quake was 5 kilometers deep, the center said in a statement.
The CENC says the epicenter is about 67 km away from Lincang city and 85 km away from Pu'er city. Strong tremor was also felt in the provincial capital Kunming.
