6-month-old baby suffers brain damage after inhaling plastic film
A SIX-MONTH-OLD boy suffered brain damage in Longgang District of Shenzhen, in south China’s Guangdong Province, from near-suffocation after he sucked plastic film into his throat.
The boy put a piece of plastic film on his face when his grandmother left for a short while on Wednesday. The baby inhaled the film into his throat, causing his nose and mouth to bleed as he choked.
His grandmother rushed him to hospital. The near-suffocation resulted in a lack of oxygen to the brain and brain damage, according to doctor. The boy was still being treated and not out of danger, the doctor said.
