AUTHORITIES in south China's Shenzhen City confirmed yesterday that seven workers were injured in a liquid detergent explosion at an electronic plant.
Two of the injured were said to be in a critical condition.
Twelve workers were using cleansing liquid, consisting primarily of sulfuric acid, to clean an ultrasonic machine on Tuesday morning at the factory in Nanshan District of Shenzhen.
The cleansing liquid suddenly exploded and caused a fire at 10:30am, the district's public security bureau said.
Firefighters were alerted, and the blaze was soon doused.
All of the injured workers remain in hospital.
A Nanshan District Department of Work Safety official said yesterday the accident was caused because the liquid detergent detonated.
