7 killed in S China pileup

Seven people were killed and 18 others injured in a pileup in south China's Guangdong Province on Monday.

At about 8:30 am, a bus rear-ended a light truck and then crashed into an oncoming bus on the Guangzhou-Kunming highway in Gaoyao City, said the emergency office of the Guangdong Provincial Government on Tuesday.

The 18 injured people were rushed to a local hospital. Three of them were seriously injured, but none of them are in a critical condition.

As of Tuesday morning, five of them have been discharged from hospital.

Investigation into the accident is under way.
