7 killed in van explosion
SEVEN people were killed and 39 injured after a commuter-van exploded in northeast China's Heilongjiang Province yesterday, authorities said.
The commuter-van from a mine company in Shuangyashan City exploded at 6:30am in the district of Lingdong. The explosion also affected a coach in the opposite lane. There were 52 passengers aboard the two vehicles. The injured were sent to two hospitals but conditions were not available. The Zhongxing Mineral Industry Co, which owns the commuter-van, is a private enterprise.
China Central Television quoted witnesses saying there appeared to be a detonator on the commuter-van, but that had not been confirmed by the authorities.
