7 nabbed in 174kg heroin
BORDER police in southwest China's Yunnan Province have busted a drug trafficking gang, confiscating over 174 kilograms of heroin and detaining seven drug dealers, including three Burmese.
Two of the dealers were caught in August 2012 after local residents tipped police, according to sources from the public security and border defense team of the Dehong Dai-Jingpo Autonomous Prefecture. Border police in Dehong caught another five drug traffickers who belonged to the same gang as the previous two dealers on May 30.
Local police said the bust was the biggest they had seen in the last decade.
People convicted of trafficking more than 50 grams of heroin can face the death sentence, according to China's penal code.
