7 surrender to police over gang-rape

Seven males have surrendered to police in connection with the gang-rape of a 17-year-old schoolgirl in Lianjiang City, Guangdong Province.
Local police said seven males - most of whom are schoolboys - handed themselves in, the Southern Metropolis Daily reported today.
Reports of the incident first emerged in an online post which claimed the schoolgirl had attended a friend's birthday party at the end of December.
During the party, a boy asked her to go outside with him.
Once outside, he called 21 another males to the spot and 17 of them raped the teenager, the post said.
Three days later, the girl was admitted to hospital suffering internal injuries.
Police were then called and found nine condoms at the scene, the online post said.
Officers are still searching for suspects.
