8,750-yuan LV shirt taunted as fragile as paper
FRENCH luxury brand Louis Vuitton is probing a customer's complaint that his 8,750 yuan (US$1,381) shirt tears easily.
The man surnamed Song said he bought the shirt in a LV flagship store in Shenzhen, southern Guangdong Province on March 7 as a gift for his friend surnamed Liu, who gently pulled the shirt and tore it. "The same strength wouldn't even tear a 4A-sized sheet of paper," Liu said in an online post that triggered an outcry.
Song said it was so "embarrassing" and compared the expensive shirt to paper clothes bought and burned as offerings to the deceased during the Qingming Festival. LV at first ignored his allegation, saying "It is our special craft."
Song said other shirts of the same type had been taken off the shelf and suspected they were substandard, according to news website, hunan.voc.com.cn.
LV later agreed to refund Song or let him choose another product, but Song rejected it. "I want LV to make an apology to me," Song said.
The LV flagship store said it has reported the issue to the headquarters' quality examination center for investigation and promised to solve the issue properly, the report said.
