9 die in real estate office fire

NINE people died and nine others were hurt when fire broke out at a real estate project office in Shenyang in Liaoning Province yesterday.
The blaze started at the sales office of Wanda Plaza in Tiexi District, an officer with the city's fire brigade said.
He said firefighters were at the scene within 10 minutes, evacuated about 40 people and put out the flames.
An initial investigation showed that an electrical short-circuit had caused the fire.
Among the dead and injured were home buyers and sales assistants.
The plaza is a project of the Wanda Group, a private firm that owns office buildings, hotels and department stores in many Chinese cities.
