9 killed, 29 hurt in bus smash

Nine people were killed and 29 injured when a bus crashed through a highway guard rail and plunged down a 30-meter-high slope in Guizhou Province yesterday.
The injured, including the driver, were sent to a hospital in Guizhou's Dafang County, with nine seriously hurt, officials said.
The bus, with 41 people aboard, was traveling from Shanghai to Guizhou's Bijie Prefecture, which administers Dafang County.
No Shanghai citizens were reported dead or injured, with investigations ongoing, said a Bijie government publicity official, surnamed Zhao.
Most of the injured were Bijie natives, said Zhao.
The accident happened about 5:15am on a highway leading to Dafang County.
