Nine people died in a shop fire in Fushan, Guangdong Province early today, local officials said.
The fire broke out at 5:26am in a car repair shop in the city's Nanhai District. Three children were among the dead who all lived in the shop.
Police said the nine people died of inhalation of toxic smoke from burning tires and plastic materials and it is against the rules that forbid using shops as residence.
