WU Juping made headlines around the world yesterday with Internet users declaring her a hero for risking her life to save the girl who fell from the 10th floor of a building in Hangzhou.
The 31-year-old mother's selfless actions were the talk of Facebook, Twitter and other social networking sites.
On Twitter, Green Harbor from the United States exclaimed: "Excellent job Wu Juping! You're my new Hero."
Paul Bantigue said: "Wu Juping, you are a hero! Your government should recognize your bravery and selflessness."
Some netizens even said she should win the Jerry Rice Award, an honor named after one of American football's greatest wide receivers, a role in which the ability to catch the ball is paramount.
"May I be the first to nominate Wu Juping for the Jerry Rice Award," netizen "aikoaiko" commented.
Slack Babbith from Canada joked that "talks of signing Wu Juping for the Detroit Lions are ongoing." Detroit Lions is a US football team.
