Abducted 25 years ago, woman reunites with parents
A woman from eastern China's Zhejiang Province was reunited with her parents yesterday, 25 years after she was kidnapped and spirited away to a neighboring province at the age of 5, Guangzhou Daily reported.
The woman, surnamed Weng, is the daughter of Cai Juanjuan and Li Mianquan, who live in Zhejiang Province. In 1989, Weng was left alone at home, with the door unlocked, by her grandmother as she went out to buy groceries. When the grandmother came back, she found Weng missing.
By then Weng had already been abducted and later she was sold to a family in Fujian Province, where she was adopted and took the family name Weng. The family treated her well, Weng said, and as she grew up, she wanted to see her biological parents.
In March this year she registered her information on a website specializing in finding lost parents and children. A volunteer working at the website took her to Shenzhen police, who collected her DNA, and found that it matched the DNA of Cai and Li. They then arranged the meeting of the family.
