Air China suspends flights to Pyongyang

AIR China has suspended flights between Beijing and Pyongyang, citing poor demand as North Korea faces growing US sanctions over its nuclear weapons and missile programs.

An official in the company’s Beijing press office said flights were suspended because “business was not good.” He declined to say when flights might resume.

Air China flights to Pyongyang began in 2008.

Last year, the company halted flights for the winter season but resumed them in March. So far, it is not selling tickets for any 2018 flights, according to Routes Online.

A staff member in Air China’s Pyongyang office said flights could resume whenever there is enough demand.
